When it is the time of celebration Junagadhdi people will always stand ahead and participate with there best. Hindus and Muslims are the major population of Junagadh town, and  Christian community. They all celebrate their communal festivals with their own way. All the communities participate in each others festivals, which resonance the united and peaceful atmosphere all around the town.The most celebrated festivals which all the Hindu cast people celebrate in Junagadh with joy and cheer is Chaitichand, [Sindhi's New Year] Ramnavarni, Rathyatra, GaneshUtsav, Raksha-Bandhan, [Traditional Brother-Sister festival] Janmashtrni, Navaratri [Dashera, Holi, Diwali (New Year for all the Hindu community around the world ].

 

All of these festivals are celebrated with beautiful decorated shops and roads, mostly all around the town and some street with special decorated craft and artistic scenes. People gathers and wait for the ceremony which bypass through the road. Young Hindu groups create nice Mythological plots [scenes] of Rarnayana and Mahabharat. And street wise they treat people with cold drinks, sweets etc. People really enjoy watching the celebration. Once in a year a big Hindu festival named "Maha Shiv Ratri" takes place at the foot Hill of Mount Girnar. This festival is in commemoration of Hindu Lord Shiva .The Muslims celebrate the Moharham in the commemoration of Prophet Hassen, Hussan. This ceremony is for two days. On first day Muslim young groups bring out the 'Tajiya' [monuments of crafted paper or wooden work with lighting] which they start building before one month, is called 'Tajiya', and they seat with this Tajiya at their own area. People come here to Tajiya. Every Muslim area [ street ] has it own Tajiya. The monument which is called 'sheaz' [made by silver pillars with a red & green cloth on it ] All the people who visit this procession and spend the night on the road for the bypass of Tajiya and Sheaz till morning to see it. Different groups of men play with Knife and swords on road along with the bypass of this procession . On the last day Muslims gather and donate cloths and moneys to poor and feed the food in large numbers of people who come to visits this Festival. Most people come to visit this Festival from near by villages. [ This Festival is only celebrated in India and in some part of Asia. Ramadan Idd is also celebrated by all the Muslims of Junagadh with a fair near Jaamii Masjid.
